Increased Power!

Increased Power

by

Rev. Wayne Everett Harris

Do you ever get weary or tired?  Isaiah 40:28 explains, “The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired.  His understanding is inscrutable.”  He has the power to rule and reign over everything.  That everything includes you!

Here is a fact that you must take hold of.  “He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might, He increases strength.” (Isaiah 40:29)  In this verse, we see increase.

He increases strength.

People advertise vitamins and minerals around the globe on a daily basis.  A reason they are popular is that people are searching for

Increased Power

strength, energy and something that will help them overcome weariness and exhaustion.  They are reaching out to Human Growth Hormones and a variety of steroids.  Two major enemies of human beings are weariness or tiredness.

Baby boomers, a very active generation, are finding out what their parents already know.  As boomers age, they find that there is an energy and strength drain.  Having grown up very physically active, many boomers find this strength and energy drain very frustrating.  What they are experiencing, their parents and grandparents have experienced.

How do we find renewed strength.  Can we be vigorous again?  Is there hope for the weary and tired?

Increased Power

God makes strength available!

The LORD gives into our lives supernaturally.  There is a strengthening that nobody else can give.  We cannot buy it in a bottle.  No human elixir can restore us. Our strength comes from the LORD.  God Almighty restores us.

What does he do for the person who lacks might?  What can you do if you lack the strength and might to do something?  It can be very frustrating.  Not being able to accomplish that thing you need to accomplish can be upsetting.

Being frustrated and upset can drain a person of enthusiasm and joy.

Increased Power

How do we overcome the drain of energy, strength and enthusiasm?  We turn to the LORD.  He gives strength and might.

The LORD increases power.  “And to him who lacks might He increases power.” (Isaiah 40:29b)  He, the LORD, increases power.  The LORD who never gets weary or tired imparts into your life what you need to gain strength and power.

Here is something interesting.  “Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait (hope in) for the LORD will gain new strength.” (Isaiah 40:30-31a)

It would be easy to think that this passage of scripture only applied to older people.  It also

Increased Power

applies to the young and vigorous.  We can run down at any age.  This passage applies to all of us.

Young and old alike need the strength and power of the LORD.

Now we get to the nitty gritty.  “Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength.” (Isaiah 40:31a)  There is no age discrimination in this passage.  There is no racial profile for this.  There is nothing mentioned about talent or being rich.

The key is waiting for the LORD.

Those who wait are those who hope in the LORD.  Here are some powerful words on which to meditate.  Psalm 103:1-5 says, “Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me,

Increased Power

bless His holy name.  Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; who pardons all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from the pit; who crowns you with loving-kindness and compassion; who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”

We can gain new strength.

Do you need new strength from the LORD?  Wait on Him.  Hope in Him.  Ask Him to give you new strength.  Expect new strength from the LORD.

This is very important for your faith and thinking on this matter.  The Word of God says, “Will gain”.  Will gain is much different than

Increased Power

might gain.  The Word says that we will gain new strength.

Whom are you going to believe?

Are you going to believe your weary and tired friend or will you believe God’s Word?  If the Bible said that only young people renew their strength, then you would have a free pass to wallow in your weariness.  The strength and power are for anyone of all ages.

What happens to those that wait for the LORD?  “They will mount up (sprout wings) with wings (pinions) like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” (Isaiah 40:31b)

Exodus 19:3-4 says, “And Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the

Increased Power

mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel:  You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself.”

Exercise faith!

  • Wait on or hope in the LORD for new strength
  • Expect a restoration and an outpouring of power
  • Refuse to give in to weariness and tiredness
  • Seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit everyday

Increased Power

  • Remember that being “born again” in Jesus Christ brings with it an infusion of resurrection life

Forget anything that will put limitations on you.  Walk by faith so that you can serve the LORD all the days of your life.  Strength and power are not for the sole purpose of making you feel good.   It is all about Jesus Christ.  Let your light shine.  One goal is that a lost world may hear your voice in the LORD.  As the Spirit of God works in you, lift up the name of Jesus.

Soaring like an eagle is not only for the experience of soaring.  We have a mission.  We cannot fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew

28) if we are too tired and weary to fulfill it.

 Increased Power

Since we are now knowledgeable as to the fact that strength and power are available to all who serve the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, who are in Christ Jesus, let us make ourselves available to the LORD as servants and vessels.

May the LORD bless you with INCREASED POWER!
